Garmin Fishfinder 300C

Made by: Garmin
Average price: $100-$300

This review is easy: I like the 300C.

Because Garmin hit a sweet spot between price and features on this one.

Retailing around $220, the Garmin Fishfinder 300C combines a great display with good sounding technology. The transducers are very similar to the 300C’s little bother (the 160C) – the same 150w RMS output provides clear sight down to 900ft.

This unit also uses a good “meat and potatoes” 80/200 kHz frequency pairing: a good combination to clearly find fish deep down, or in a wide area around your boat.

The 300C really stands out with it’s “Split screen” display though. You can watch both frequencies at once – something cheaper models do not offer. This lets you have the most coverage possible, all at once, without having to change screens.

Everything you could need is available at a glance on the 300C: you can see deep down right under your boat, as well as a wide angle around you.

Plus it comes with a water temperature sensor included.

This is a good, sturdy fishfinder that would make a fine addition to any boat. I’d buy it for my friends or my dad – and they would love it.
