Average price: over $300
In the middle of the line of all Humminbird fishfinders is the 700 series. There’s a very large variance in both features and price in this lineup.
At the low end is the 718 fishfinder. It is a sonar only device which means it’s included features are only for finding fish not navigation. But because it is in the 700 series you can hook it up to other Humminbird electronics with their networking features.
So if you’re looking to really expand your boat’s gear, and are looking for an entry level Humminbird fishfinder that can be networked, this is it.
This is a grayscale model with a 5 inch diagonal screen. It supports 320 by 320 pixels of resolution. The sounder in it is capable of pushing 300 W of RMS power when needed and can hit 2400 W peak.
To be honest, there are other fishfinders with more power and a better screen. If that’s all you’re looking for there are better models for you. But if you’re interested in the Humminbird networking features so you can expand out all your gear and connect them all together this is a good place to start.
