Humminbird 858C Fishfinder

Made by: Humminbird
Average price: over $300

As we approach the top of the line fishfinder models made by Humminbird, the 800 series are pretty interesting. A breakaway from some of the smaller screens on lesser models and start getting some very professional level displays.

For example the 858c combination fishfinder has a very large 7 inch screen. This is very sharp. We’re very impressed by the resolution it provides: 480 by 800 pixels worth of information. It is a very large screen and to power it Humminbird has a few different transducers.

The default transducer has a good 500 W sounder capable of peaking at 4000 W. The default one can look down 1500 feet accurately. To get even more power, they sell an optional transducer that can sound 2000 feet down.

The default transducer is the common 200 and 83 kHz split. The optional deep water transducer has a 200 and 50 kHz split.

Of course, for the price, you get everything you could want in this level. It supports networking with all kinds of external sensors. And of course, it includes a builtin 50 channel GPS and contour maps.
